From June 22 to 24, HD Construction Equipment hosted a DX engine service technology training session for 20 participants at the Hyundai North America Training Center in Atlanta. The attendees included service personnel from the North American subsidiary, as well as executives and employees from major dealerships.

The DX engine powers the next-generation excavators launched in North America this year. By combining an optimized combustion chamber design with an advanced fuel injection system, it delivers top-tier power output while boosting fuel efficiency by up to 8% compared to previous models.

Furthermore, it complies with Europe's Stage V and the U.S. Tier 4 Final standards—the strictest emission regulations in both regions. The engine is also compatible with Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), a low-carbon biofuel.

This outstanding performance earned the engine the 2025 Diesel of the Year (DOTY) award. It is the first time a South Korean engine has claimed this top honor in the industrial engine sector.

The Headquarters’ Global Training Center worked with the North American subsidiary to develop a tailored training course based on field demand. Attendees included top North American dealers such as NED, Mecom, and Whited Equipment

This training program was specifically structured to maximize practical, on-the-job application, offering advanced education on the key characteristics and functions of the DX05 and DX08 engines, as well as comprehensive instruction on using the Engine Diagnostic Tool. Furthermore, through hands-on practice sessions modeled after real-world field scenarios, participants sharpened their service capabilities by navigating the entire workflow from initial diagnosis to final troubleshooting

Martin Ackerman, Vice President of the Service Division at NED, stated, "The practical, case-oriented training enhanced our understanding of the DX engine. I believe this will significantly improve our customer support and maintenance efforts in the future."

Lee Byoung-kab, Senior Manager of Global PS at HD Construction Equipment, stated, "This training holds great significance in that it strengthened our service capabilities for next-generation models in North America—backed by the Global Training Center’s proactive technical support—and upgraded our technical support system through collaboration among the headquarters, subsidiaries, and dealers. Ultimately, we expect this to reinforce our brand competitiveness and build a solid foundation for expanding sales across the North American market."
