On 28 June 2017, Doosan Infracore announced that it has entered into an engine supply contract with KION group, the world's No. 2 forklift company of Germany. The contract is for the provision of around 69,000 diesel and LPG compact engines until the end of 2028.

About 10 related people from both sides attended the signing of the contract, which was held in Doosan Infracore's Incheon factory on 27 June, including Vice President Joonho Yoo, the head of Engine BG, and Vice President Hans Schotte, the head of Module and Components, KION Group.

The engine being provided to KION by Doosan Infracore is the G2 engine, an environmentally-friendly and high-efficiency compact engine developed in 2012. G2 engines have been recognized as having the highest technological standard, and in 2013 were elected to “Top 10 Machine Technologies of the Year”, and “IR52 Jang Young-shil Award”, proceeding then to receive the Innovation Award from the United Kingdom's Fork Lift Truck Association in 2014.

Doosan Infracore was selected as the engine supplier for KION at the end of 2015, and proceeded to launch into the development of compact engines to load into KION premium forklifts. Doosan Infracore has been preparing the system to produce 4 engine models such as diesel engines (D24, D34) and LPG engines (P24, P34) to match the European emission regulation Stage V, which will take effect in 2019, and the specifications from KION.

“With the completion of this contract, Doosan Infracore's engine business division has cemented itself as a strategic partner to the world's top businesses,” stated Vice President Joonho Yoo. “With a basis of stable quality and technical skills that satisfy the strengthening European emission regulations, we will produce the world's top-quality engines.”

Doosan Infracore is diversifying G2 engine’s customer base and continuing to steadily increase the mass production supply. With the commencement of the compact equipment G2 engines being supplied into Doosan Bobcat in 2013, Doosan Corporation Industrial Vehicle and Clark are being supplied with forklift G2 engines. Contracts have been entered into in 2016 with distinguished domestic agricultural machinery businesses. At CONEXPO 2017, a U.S. construction equipment exhibition this past March, G2 engines for generator were also made public.

“We’re making proactive sales efforts to make the most use of the engine transition period following the introduction of both North America and Europe's new emission standards, ” said an official of Doosan Infracore. “Making G2 engines the growth driver of the future, we will continue expanding customer base going forward.”
