HD Hyundai employees participate in cemetery cleaning volunteer work at the Seoul National Cemetery in Dongjak-gu on June 14, 2024 (Friday).
HD Hyundai announced on June 16, 2024 (Sunday) that it conducted graveyard cleaning at the Seoul National Cemetery in Dongjak-gu, Seoul and the Yeongcheon National Cemetery in Gyeongsangbuk-do in observance of Veterans' Month.
Over 140 employees participated in the cemetery cleaning held on June 14, 2024 (Friday) and May 24, 2024 (Friday). The participants began their cleaning activities by laying flowers and paying tribute to the fallen heroes, followed by weeding and planting flowers around the graves, cleaning the tombstones, and ensuring the proper condition of the Korean national flags.
HD Hyundai has carried out annual cemetery cleaning volunteer activities since 2015 following its sisterhood agreement with the Seoul National Cemetery to honor the spirits of war heroes and patriots.
HD Hyundai is also waging an employee donation campaign for national meritorious service recipients. It has set up a donation kiosk at its Global R&D Center (GRC) in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do where employees can directly make donations to support descendants of national meritorious service recipients and independence patriots. The fund-raising campaign is ongoing throughout June 2024.
In addition, HD Hyundai is taking the lead in patriotic activities to express gratitude to those who have dedicated themselves to the country and to encourage the ROK Armed Forces soldiers.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, HD Hyundai has launched the "National Meritorious Persons' House Remodeling Project" since 2021. With investment of approximately KRW 400 million, the project has renovated the aging housing environments of 10 households of Korean War veterans and families of deceased soldiers of Cheonan.
The company has also forged partnerships with military units, providing them with construction equipment and passenger vehicles and building sports facilities for soldiers. In addition to such efforts to improve the welfare of military personnel, the company also offers support to veterans by providing training on excavator maintenance and other job placement services.
Operated with 1% donation of employees' salaries, the HD Hyundai 1% Sharing Foundation has been supporting the children of naval officers and soldiers who died in the line of duty since 2020 for five consecutive years through the sponsorship of the Navy Scholarship Foundation in order to honor the noble sacrifice of the fallen naval officers and soldiers and to help assuage the pain of the bereaved families.
"We prepared this event to show our gratitude to those who have dedicated themselves to the country. We will continue supporting them with the belief that the country's well-being is our well-being,” an HD Hyundai official said.
