Hyundai Doosan Infracore (Co-Presidents Cho Young-cheol & Oh Seung-hyun), an HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Group subsidiary, has succeeded in winning a large-scale order for tank engines developed independently from Türkiye.

On the 2nd (Thu.), Hyundai Doosan Infracore announced that it had signed a KRW 313.1 contract to supply 1,500-horsepower tank engines to BMC, a defense company in Türkiye. This order makes Hyundai Doosan Infracore the first exclusive exporter of defense engines.

Slated to be installed in Türkiye’s next-generation ‘Altay’ tank manufactured by BMC, the first batch worth KRW 110.2 billion will be supplied sequentially for 3 years from the second half of 2025 according to the contract. In accordance with the terms of the additional option purchase agreement, the second batchworth 202.9 billion won will be supplied from 2028 to 2030.

Leading up to this, the Turkish government conducted a field test evaluation of the Hyundai Doosan Infracore engine equipped in an "Altay" tank, and ultimately selected it as the engine for the "Altay" tank.

Hyundai Doosan Infracore's tank engines were highly evaluated for their optimal efficiency and superior performance in Türkiye’s tactical environment marked by many desert terrains in high temperature climates during the course of high-speed and high-output maneuvering tactics.

A Hyundai Doosan Infracore official said, "Going forward, we will strive to develop the defense industry sector as one of the next-generation growth engines by expanding our export regions."

Meanwhile, last December, Hyundai Doosan Infracore formed a contract with Hyundai Rotem to supply tank engines worth KRW 180 billion for K2 tanks to be exported to Poland.
